Stephen Gergeni is a versatile biologist with a varied skillset ranging from wetland delineation to waterfowl identification. He has participated in surveys and monitoring projects for many of California’s listed and protected species, including salt marsh harvest mouse, California tiger salamander, western pond turtle, giant garter snake, ringtail, California red-legged frog, Swainson’s hawk, and burrowing owl. Mr. Gergeni has also supported a variety of habitat restoration projects, including wetlands, ponds, streams, and upland habitats. In addition, he is familiar with passerine and waterfowl identification, “cryptic marsh bird call back” protocol, and visual identification, and he participates in various bird and bat banding sites.
